In the second novel of the Wheeler series, #WheelerInDarkness, the main character, Loren goes back to England while her boyfriend, Graham, returns to California to finish the film he’s been working on. The separation is hard on both of them after being together in Richmond, Virginia for the World Championships and then with Loren’s family in Rochester, New York.
“For the two weeks we were together in the States, we…” Loren held out her hands to Anthony. “You know those couples you hate because they finish each other’s sentences and they’re constantly touching and rarely say I love you because they don’t have to. They feel it. That’s what it was like. It was perfect.” Her eyes welled up. “But now, it’s like he doesn’t want to be with me anymore. What did I do?” she cried. “What did I do wrong?”
As you can see, all is not rainbows and unicorns. Unpleasant things have been happening to Loren and because her tendency is to keep her pain hidden, she doesn’t tell him. Trust begins to crumble.
Can they overcome their fears and believe in each other?

Fire and the Flood by Vance Joy
I was only walking through your neighborhood
Saw your light on honey in the cold I stood
Anywhere I go there you are
Anywhere I go there you are
I’ve been getting used to waking up with you
I’ve been getting used to waking up here
Anywhere I go there you are
Anywhere I go there you are
There you are
There you are
You’re the fire and the flood
And I’ll always feel you in my blood
Everything is fine
When your hand is resting next to mine
Next to mine
You’re the fire and the flood
Since we met I feel a lightness in my step
You’re miles away but I still feel you
Anywhere I go there you are
Anywhere I go there you are
Late at night when you can’t fall asleep
I’ll be lying right beside you counting sheep
Anywhere I go there you are
Anywhere I go there you are
