Admittedly, I’ve been feeling a little down lately about my journey as an author.
I got another rejection letter (kitten fart, as we’re calling them on Twitter) and because it’s tax season, I had to run my sales reports for last year.
Abysmal isn’t even enough to describe it.
I found that 3-star review and I sunk a little deeper.
Createspace has ‘suppressed’ #WheelerNovel for some unknown reason and isn’t giving it back or responding to my plethora of emails. They also don’t take phone calls. I’ve tried. My next move is to send a fax/email on my law firm’s letterhead.
I am Athena. Don’t fuck with my brain baby.
Then I got an email that I haven’t quite wrapped my head around yet:
Your book ‘Wheeler‘ was chosen as an “Official Selection” in the Cross-Genre category of our Annual Book Awards!
On a lark, I entered a previous version into New Apple’s book awards contest last June. It wasn’t even the best one (in my opinion, I’ve since corrected any lingering misspellings and formatting issues). My mother had been emailing me for a week with all these contests I could enter and New Apple’s had the most to gain in exposure.
I sent the PDF off and went right back to editing and rewriting “In Darkness.”
I feel shocked. Humbled. Grateful. Scared. Nervous. Anxious. But also a little excited.
Wow.
You deserve a good break. 👍
