Rapha-Canyon/Sram Jersey Review Part Deux

Rapha was extremely helpful with an exchange of the Canyon/Sram Core jersey. In my previous post, I was very pleased with the size medium, except for the arms. I don’t have skinny arms.  The medium was a perfect fit in the body, not too tight, not too loose, and the length was spot on for my shorter torso. I didn’t get that bump out in the zipper right at the place I do not want a bump out – my belly. I didn’t mind showcasing the ‘girls’, and even with the zipper down a shade, the design of the jersey provides an extra large layover under the zipper for added coverage.

The size large, in contrast, fit exactly right in the arms (not too tight). It wasn’t as form fitting as the medium and the hated bump out appeared, even in bib shorts (gotta love bib shorts for that midriff support). I did have to keep tugging the back of the jersey down as it tended to ride up, even with the gripper. The pockets were roomy and I loved the zippered one, the con was they were a little higher up on my back than I’m used to with my other jerseys. Completely forgivable though.

The Number Two reason why I’m in love with this jersey is because it’s black but still has color. Yes, I’m a girl, but honestly, I’m sick of pink. And flowers. Paisley. Cats. Cutesy designs. This jersey looks tough but fun with the splashes of color. I saw the team in a photo today and the full kit is strikingly awesome. Even the socks!

The Number One reason why I’m in love with this jersey: Here in Southeast Pennsylvania, it was extremely hot and humid last Saturday, even at 8:30 in the morning (I was still sweating).  The previous two weekends were also extremely hot and boy I suffered. I noticed immediately a difference wearing this jersey. The fabric is thick, it’s got a higher spandex/Lycra content, and I honestly thought I was going to bake. The fabric did the exact opposite. I was cool and much drier than I was on other rides.

All in all, I’d give it an A.

The huge downer is the price. $115 is pretty steep for a jersey, but I subbed quite a bit last month for indoor cycling so I made enough to cover the cost.
